The challenge

Many Glendale residents couldn't take part in programs at the City's recreation and senior centers. Some are homebound, some are snowbirds who spend part of the year away, and some simply lack transportation. The City also has a large Hispanic population it wanted to reach and engage.

The solution

The City of Glendale partnered with Televeda to launch G.R.O.W., an online wellness platform where residents can join programs remotely and stay part of the community.

Members can choose from live and on-demand classes. Fitness options include Zumba Gold, Strength Building, Chair Yoga, Seated Tai Chi, Sit and Fit, and SilverSneakers Classic. Healthy Cooking with Christy has taught recipes such as apple nachos and sweet potato fries with a Greek yogurt dip. Members can also join Brain Games, Bingo, Creative Writing, Zentangle, and drawing and painting workshops.

Televeda sent the City a data report each month covering membership, class attendance, member feedback, and recommendations.
